The Climakers Farmers Session at FAFO 2020

The 7th Global Meeting of the Farmers’ Forum, was held from February 6-11, 2020 at IFAD Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The meeting took place in conjunction with the 43rd session of the IFAD Governing Council.

Established in 2005, The Farmers’ Forum (FAFO) is an ongoing, bottom-up process of consultation and dialogue between organizations of small-scale farmers and rural producers from all over the world.

The event was the occasion for a forward-looking and constructive exchange among all the farmers’ leaders attending FAFO 2020 on how farmers can drive the change in the global political debate on agriculture and climate change, based on their practical experience on the field.

The perspective of the Caribbean farmers was shared by Errington Thompson, President of the Agriculture Alliance of the Caribbean (AACARI).

Along with Jannes Maes, President of the European Council of Young Farmers (CEJA), they presented the key outcomes of the two first regional consultations held in the Caribbean and Europe in 2019, giving voice to the needs and solutions of the farmers from those regions.
